Sarah and Isabelle Tobin in the kitchen with Brekky Mix
G'DAY FROM MERRICKS

Where the Name Comes From

Merricks is a small seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, about an hour south of Melbourne, Australia.

The kitchen was the center of everything. Food that tasted like someone cared about it, because someone did.

Our Mission

Most food that calls itself healthy is not. It is ultra-processed, sweetened with substitutes, built on seed oils, and padded with synthetic nutrients to compensate for what real food used to provide naturally.

Merricks Kitchen rejects that entire cycle.

What We Believe

Real food is the original functional food.

Your body was designed to process whole food ingredients, not substances manufactured in a laboratory.

Flavor and nutrition are not opposites.

The idea that healthy food requires sacrifice is a failure of ingredient selection.

Trust is built by what you leave out, not what you add in.

Real trust comes from restraint: refusing to use ingredients that don't belong.

We hold the standard.

Every product meets the Triple Zero standard, assessed ingredient by ingredient.

More About Merricks Kitchen

What is the Triple Zero standard?

Every Merricks Kitchen product meets three non-negotiable criteria: zero seed oils, zero refined sugar, and zero artificial anything. We apply this standard to every ingredient in every product, and it is the filter every new decision goes through. It is not a marketing position. It is how we make food.

What does Non-UPF Verified mean?

Merricks Kitchen is independently verified by WISEcode as Non-UPF (Non-Ultra-Processed Food), assessed ingredient by ingredient. It means the claim is provable, not just printable. Most “healthy” granolas contain ultra-processed ingredients that don't appear on the front of the bag.

Why extra virgin olive oil instead of other oils?

Most granolas are made with canola oil, sunflower oil, or coconut oil. We use extra virgin olive oil because it contains polyphenols and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats that seed oils don't provide. In an analysis of 50+ granola products, only 9 used extra virgin olive oil. We are one of them.

What does small-batch actually mean?

Brekky Mix is hand-crafted in Orange County, California, in small batches. We don't scale production in ways that require changing the formula, extending shelf life with preservatives, or swapping ingredients for cheaper versions. Batch size is a constraint we accept to protect ingredient integrity.

Where is Merricks?

Merricks is a small coastal town on the Mornington Peninsula, about an hour south of Melbourne, Australia. Our founder Sarah grew up visiting her family's property there. The brand takes its name, and a lot of its food philosophy, from that place.
